Kappa are a race of bipedal reptilian humanoids which bear a strong resemblance to turtles. Kappas walk with their backs hunched, ranging in height between 3 and 3½ feet when fully grown. Prodigious swimmers, kappa make their home near lakes, rivers, and in coastal areas. Other races find kappa to be a curious folk. They are known to be mischievous when dealing with outsiders, but at the same time follow a stringent code of conduct. Once a kappa has given his word, there is little one can do to keep him from making good on his promise.

Racial Traits
+4 Constitution, -2 Dexterity: Kappa are tough and wise, but they could hardly be called nimble.
Small: Kappa are Small creatures, and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Slow and Steady: Kappa have a base speed of 20 feet, but their speed is never modified by armor or encumbrance.
Stability: Kappa receive a +2 bonus to their CMB to resist a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.
Heavy Shell: Kappa have a +5 natural armor bonus.
Natural Weapons: Kappa have 2 claws (1d4) and a bite attack (1d4)
Aquatic: Kappa are aquatic creatures and receive a +4 racial bonus on all Swim checks. In addition, a kappa can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to four times its Constitution score before it risks drowning.
Weapon Proficiency: Kappa are proficient with all simple weapons and shields (except tower shields).
Racial Hit Dice: Kappa begin with two levels of humanoid, which provide 2d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +1, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +0, Ref +0, Will, +3.
Racial Skills: A kappa’s humanoid levels give it skill points equal to 2 x (2 + Int modifier). Its class skills are Climb, Perception, Survival, and Swim.
Racial Feats: A kappa’s humanoid levels give it one feat.
Languages: Kappa begin play speaking Common and Kappa. Kappa with high intelligence scores can choose any of the following: Aquan, Goblin, Skree, Sylvan.
Favored Class: The favored class of kappa is druid or monk. The choice must be made at 1st level and cannot be changed.
